Generally here on barganews we tend to report the positive things about this area but sometimes it is necessary to document some of the not so positive aspects.
This week comes news of a series of events which could be related or maybe are just a series of isolated events but in either case are a definite sign that something is not right and needs to be corrected and all of these events cast a very negative view on the image of this city.
Upon entering the Duomo this week, Don Stefano Serafini was extremely annoyed to find cigarette butts littering the floor – signs that somebody obviously had been smoking inside the Duomo.
He also noticed the large wooden bench which was normally situated just outside the main door was nowhere to be seen.
His displeasure was increased when he toured the outside of the Duomo and located the wooden bench, or what was left it, lying broken and in pieces outside of the Civic Museum.
The area was also littered and graffitied but this was nothing compared to the damage which could be seen on the roof of the bell tower of the Santissimo Crocifisso church where tiles have been smashed by somebody throwing objects from the nearby terrace outside of the Museum.
The cost of replacing the broken tiles would not be that excessive but the roof of the belltower can only be accessed from the outside involving extremely expensive scaffolding.
