Seven years ago we published an article entitled, “Andrea Mazzolini – we never close” – that article can be seen here
We never close was the anthem that Andrea Mazzolini had been singing in his shop since he first started work there at the age of six.
Past pensionable age, in 2007, Andrea was still there working 7 days a week and enjoying every minute of it BUT over the past few years that heavy work load had begun to take its toll and finally this month, Andrea has decided that enough is enough. He has been working in his shop for 50 years – surely he is entitled to some rest?
As you can hear in the fairly lengthy conversation with Andrea recorded in his shop this afternoon (in Italiano) the man is still full of positive ideas as he reminisces about his half a century behind the counter. Times change and life rolls on and we have to accept some of the things that we can’t change and have the energy to change to things that we can alter, according to Andrea.
Another article with video from 2008 can be seen here featuring Andrea and his tradition of cheese rolling outside his shop
