University of North Georgia Students Bring Barga to the Screen
For the past five weeks, residents of Barga may have noticed small groups of people with cameras and microphones capturing scenes and sounds around the city. These were not tourists, but students from the University of North Georgia’s School of Communication, Film and Theatre, here as part of a summer film course.
The School of Communication, Film & Theatre (CFT) benefits from collaboration and synergy to offer students a multitude of educational and developmental opportunities. Our degrees are among the signature programs on the UNG-Gainesville campus and prepare students for careers in filmmaking, journalism, public relations, organizational leadership, technical theatre, acting, digital media production, and many other related professions. Now in its third year, the programme is based at Casa Cordati in Barga Vecchia and brings American film students to Tuscany to learn on location.
This afternoon, their latest work was unveiled at the Fondazione Ricci: a short documentary about Bruno Cordati. The film, created by the students under the guidance of Professor James Mackenzie, offers a fresh look at Cordati’s life and legacy.
The documentary will now be submitted to a number of international film festivals before its eventual public release.

Gli studenti dell’University of North Georgia portano Barga sullo schermo
Negli ultimi cinque settimane, i residenti di Barga avranno forse notato piccoli gruppi di persone con telecamere e microfoni intenti a catturare immagini e suoni per le strade della città. Non si trattava di turisti, ma di studenti della School of Communication, Film and Theatre dell’University of North Georgia, a Barga per partecipare a un corso estivo di cinema.
La School of Communication, Film & Theatre (CFT) beneficia della collaborazione e sinergia tra le sue aree di studio per offrire agli studenti numerose opportunità formative e di crescita. Giunto al suo terzo anno, il programma ha sede presso la Casa Cordati in Barga Vecchia e offre agli studenti americani la possibilità di apprendere direttamente sul campo, nel cuore della Toscana.
Questo pomeriggio, presso la Fondazione Ricci, è stato presentato il loro ultimo lavoro: un breve documentario su Bruno Cordati. Il film, realizzato dagli studenti sotto la guida del professor James Mackenzie, propone uno sguardo nuovo sulla vita e sull’eredità del pittore bargamasco.
Il documentario sarà ora proposto per la selezione in vari festival cinematografici internazionali prima della sua uscita pubblica.
