As the bells of the Duomo rang out at midnight it was to a very different New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day than normally celebrated here in the city.
With COVID-19 restrictions the usual noisy and busy celebrations at the Duomo this year was non-existent – absolutely nobody was there at midnight but just as the bells struck so came down the snow and down in the valley the sound of fireworks being launched into the foggy rain and snow set off some of the local dogs barking in unison with the bangs.
All in all a very strange end to 2020 and start to the new 2021.
