Luigi Roni era nato a Calomini nel comune di Vergemoli (Lucca) il 22.2.1942.
Alla fine degli’anni ’50 per seguire le lezioni di canto a Lucca, andava a piedi dal suo paese fino alla stazione ferroviaria di Mologno per 10 anni, riuscendo poi a diplomarsi all’Istituto Boccherini.
A venti due anni ha vinto il concorso Adriano Belli di Spoleto ed ha cominciato la sua carriera di cantante d’Opera Internazionale.
Nel 1969 debutta al Teatro alla Scala dove ritornerà ogni anno fino al 2010, per più di quaranta anni sotto la direzione dei più grandi Maestri e i migliori Registi. Ha cantato nei più grandi teatri d’Italia e del mondo, riscontrando sempre ottimi successi di critica.
Fu nell’anno 2000 che Luigi Roni fondò Il Serchio delle Muse,un circolo aperto a tutti, con lo scopo preciso di organizzare concerti ed eventi operistici nei luoghi più belli della Garfagnana. Nei suoi 20 anni di direzione artistica ha richiamato decine di artisti di fama internazionale nel nostro territorio, non accettando mai compensi per questo ma spinto solo dall’amore per la musica e per la sua terra, a cui si è sempre sentito molto legato.
Luigi era un grande artista ed una persona eccezionale, uomo dalla grande energia e bontà e per noi, la sua perdita è un colpo al cuore, una ferita che non si rimarginerà facilmente

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Luigi Roni, President and Artistic director of Serchio dell Muse.
Luigi Roni was born in Calomini in the Vergemoli commune (Lucca) on 22.02.1942. At the end of 1950 he went by foot from Calomini to the station at Barga – Gallicano, to pursue studies in singing at Lucca. He did this journey every day of lessons, rain, hail or shine for 10 years.
He obtained his diploma from the Boccherini Institute. At the age of twenty he won the Adriano Belli competition at Spoleto and started his career as an international opera singer. In 1969 he had his debut at La Scala, where he returned every year until 2010. For more than forty years he worked under the direction of the best Maestri and directors. He sang in all of the grand theatres in Italy and across the world, to critical acclaim.
From 2000 Luigi started to work on the idea of a festival of opera music, free to all and to be held in the most beautiful villages in the Garfagnana. In 2010 Serchio dell Muse was organised as a society. In the twenty years where Luigi was both President and Artistic Director he brought artists of international fame to our region. He never accepted reimbursement for all the work he did, because he did it for love of the music and for the people in the Garfagnana.
Luigi was a great artist and an exceptional person, always generous, creative, full of energy and goodness. His loss is a blow to the heart.
