This year they celebrated 17 years of music making and at the last night of the Live in Barga – “Festa delle Piazzette” they showed just why they have been so successful and long lasting and still manage to remain a fresh sounding band — The Organic Groove were shaking their stuff.
Peewee Durante on keyboards, Luca Giovacchini on guitar and of course, the powerhouse rhythm section that is Matteo Sodini on drums.
The secret is probably no secret really — they obviously enjoy each others company and revel in the music that they make.
The enthusiasm and sheer joy at playing their music is infectious and brought smiles to the faces of most of the audience in Piazza Angelio but that was not enough for the Organic Groove … they decided at one point in the concert that it was time to reach out to a few more people as so with just some rhythm instruments they left their keyboards, drums and guitar and proceeded to march into the Osteria and right into the kitchens where the chefs were then “press ganged” into joining in with the rhythm.
Members of the Barga rock band, The Strangers who were relaxing drinking in the bar where then added to the mix and not content with that musical contamination, the whole noisy movement then moved out of the piazza and into Piazza Salvo Salvi where Michela Lombardi and Ugo Bongianni where entertaining their crowd with some sleek and gentle jazz … not for long … the tempo was changed, the rhythm moved up a few beats and then it was once more back into the Piazza Angelio to continue their concert – The Organic Groove Musical Contamination was over and a fitting end it was too as just 30 minutes later the last note was played in Barga vecchia and the Live in Barga – “Festa delle Piazzette” 2016 came to a climatic end.
