A group of seven Australian artists are painting in Barga Vecchia this week working in that most difficult of mediums – watercolours, as they attempt to capture the wonderful October light as it moves fleetingly through the city.
They are here as part of an organised art group which for the last decade has been working mainly in the Greek islands but which has now pointed their artistic gaze onto this part of Tuscany.
This is their first working visit to Barga under the guiding hand and watchful eye of their tutor Stavros Panantoniou – a highly respected artist, skilled draughtsman and teacher from Sydney Australia.
Using their base at Art Toscana in Val di Pozza, Stavros and his students will be making daily forays into Barga Vecchia with their easels, paints and paper as they struggle with the fast changing shadows and light of the autumn.
