Another surprise concert this afternoon in Barga Vecchia – this time outside in the piazza in Piazza Salvi in front of Aristo’s bar. A fine evening for sitting down and listening to some classical music as the swallows dive around the Palazzo Pancrazi.
The Giovane Orchestra Sonara featuring Ana Maria Goldenzwieg on violino, Jonathan Brandani on cembalo and once again all under the capable baton of the Direttore Paolo Tommasi.
Amongst the many varied pieces that they played one stood out for the musical humour that it invoked. That piece was called “Strauss in the doghouse” – a cheeky medley of bits of the “Blue Danube†waltz, the “Radetzky†March, and “Die Fledermausâ€.
