What a diff'rence a day makes – Twenty-four little hours – Brought the sun and the flowers – Where there used to be rain … so sang Dinah Washington. In a strange kind of reverse way the same could almost be said of the last 24 hours here in Barga. Yesterday there was bright sunshine, birds singing and even some super resilient insects buzzing around the blossoms and the new spring flowers pushing through the earth. Today that enthusiastic early start to the season has evaporated and in its place the winter has returned with a vengeance – bitterly cold gale force winds from the North howling down across the mountain, dropping temperatures more than 10° since yesterday, and once again, the mountainside around Sommocolonia is covered in snow.
Yesterday the spring was in the air – today it was replaced by swirling snow.
Anybody remember last year ? – the snow was a little bit earlier in January (article here)
