Bargajazz Masterclasses 2007
BRUNO TOMMASO - BIG BAND CONDUCTING WORKSHOP: 9 - 13 August 2007
Number of participants admitted: minimum 4 - maximum 10
This course, aimed at advanced level jazz students, will be given by Maestro Bruno Tommaso in collaboration with the BargaJazz Orchestra. The aspects of the course dedicated to theory will involve analysis of score, movement and mannerism, and planning techniques. The practical side will take place together with the orchestra and envisages performance of pieces drawn from the established BargaJazz Orchesta repertoire (largely contained in the “Sound Score” cd, together with the relevant scores) and from the original arrangements and compositions submitted and approved for the 2007 edition of the BargaJazz Festival Competition. The Artistic Director may wish to include one ore more of the participants in the other activities of the BargaJazz Festival 2007
KENNY WHEELER - JAZZ COMPOSITION AND IMPROVISATION SEMINAR: 20 - 22 August 2007
Number of participants admitted: minimum 8 - maximum 20
Jazz composition and improvisation seminar for all instruments. The aim is to develop the principal themes regarding composition and arrangement with particular attention given to improvisational techniques. The morning lessons, conducted by Glauco Venier, will consist of an analysis of musical materials and in-depth technical and theoretical examination. Furthermore care will be taken to answer any of the student’s requirements in relation to their cultural base in terms of jazz language and harmony. The pieces prepared and analysed in the morning will be arranged, perfected and performed in the afternoon lessons under the guidance and with advice from Kenny Wheeler.
In order to participate in the Masterclasses the following must be submitted by the 9th of July 2007:
- request for participation including CV, address and telephone number
- past studies and artistic experiences
- receipt of payment made out to Associazione Polyphonia of the Masterclass fee
